The Minds Behind: Coach Brian Diglio of North Rockland HS

On Saturday, November 19th, sophomore Katelyn Tuohy was en route to a historic time at the Federation Championships, held at Bowdoin Park.  As she crossed the final bridge, onto the flat straightaways of the finishing field, a familiar voice shouted from the crowd, "Time to turn it up!"

That voice came from North Rockland Head Girls Cross Country Coach Brian Diglio, and Tuohy quickly obliged his request.  While Diglio has had much success in recent years, including USA Top All-Time performances from racewalker Maria Garcia & Steeplechaser Alex Harris, Tuohy has been a step above.  From the beginning of the season, the question became less of, "Can Tuohy win," but more of "by how much?"

Coach Diglio, or 'Digs' as his team refers to him, started his coaching career at Clarkstown South, where his father had been a longtime Coach as well.  As a graduate of Monroe-Woodbury himself, he knew the New York running landscape well.  Now in his 15th year at North Rockland, he has used that same experience in developing the nation's premiere talent.
