Pat DuPont (Fairport, NY) runs to 48th place at World Juniors

Pat DuPont, a 2008 graduate of Fairport High School in upstate New York, placed 48th at The IAAF World Junior Cross Country Championships.

DuPont is a freshman on the Syracuse University cross country and track and field teams. He traveled to Amman, Jordan to compete in his first international competition.

DuPont was the 3200m run and 3000m steeplechase champion last spring at the NY State Championships and competed at Foot Locker National his senior year in high school.

SU teammate Tito Medrano also competed at the meet, placing 62nd. Syracuse has been emerging as one of the best distance programs in the country led by coach Chris Fox.

(Photo by Victah Sailer, PhotoRun.net) Shippensburg University freshman Neely Spence moved up throughout the race, ultimately finishing 19th in her debut on the world stage in the IAAF World Juniors Cross Country Championships in Amman, Jordan.

Brasovan 26th at World Junior XC

Wellington High senior Ashley Brasovan travelled to Amman, Jordan this past weekend to compete at the Cross Country World Championships. She was one of five representing the United States in the Junior Women's 6K race.

Ashley finished in 26th place with a time of 21:55, as the second American in the race.

According to reports on the forum, Brasovan was competing with an injury and as a result may not see any further action this season. Let's hope that's not the case and we get to see more of our former Footlocker National champ before her high school season is concluded and she leaves us for Duke University!

Team USA finishes 5th in both junior races at World XC Champs

Both US junior teams placed fifth at the IAAF World Cross Country Championships held in Jordan this weekend.

The US junior women had two high school runners compete on their squad with Ashley Brasovan (pictured left by Tim O'Dowd of IrishRunner.com) of Florida in 26th place (21:55) and Alex Dunne of California in 34th place (22:15) on the 6K course held on the Bisharat Golf Course in Amman, Jordan. Brasovan and Dunne were the second and third finishers for Team USA behind collegiate freshmen Neely Spence (Shippensburg University PA).
