Katelyn Tuohy Torches Another Course Record

In her second consecutive Invitational outing, sophomore Katelyn Tuohy proved why she has shot to the top of the National Watchlists.  Running in the Division 2 race at the Grout Run, a 2.75 mile layout consisting of pavement and flat grass, the North Rockland standout shattered her prior course record by 30-seconds plus.  It was so impressive, even the boys were weary of her times.  In fact, only three boys managed to run faster, two of which who finished in the Top 15 at the McQuaid Invite the week before.

Tuohy completed the course in 14:06.88, one minute and thirty seconds ahead of the next best finish.  The race was rated 158.71 via Speed Ratings, now the second fastest in the country this year, trailing only Claudia Lane of California.  Tuohy also set the Bear Mountain Course Record earlier this year, before returning to the course to cruise at her League Championships.

The North Rockland Girls are currently entered in the Manhattan Invite, but it will remain to be seen if Tuohy heads back to Easterns to defend her title, or opts for a letter race.  Jess Lawson set a course record of 13:53.9 in 2015, earning a 152.87 Speed Rating.  Converting the Grout Run, Tuohy would be projected for an unbelievable 13:30 if ratings hold.
