Burnt Hills Finds Footing At Baldwinsville Invite, Derfel Returns To The Front

Boys Recap

Individuals: Silas Derfel (Ithaca) is one of two returning NXN-Qualfiers from last year, and proved why at Baldwinsville.  Looking to push the season further back this year, he opened at Bville in the midst of a heavy training load.  Still, on tired legs, he managed to respond to a mid-race push, and come out with the win.  The performances is now tied with Shea Weilbaker for the second highest speed rating of the season at 185.00, just behind Geoff Howles. Team: It was a strong showing for the Burnt Hills boys, who are currently ranked #1 in the State, but only just.  Their compression 1-4 was thirty seconds, and that quartet took 2-5 in the race.  Led by legitimate frontfrunner Tyler Berg, the Spartans should be a power group moving forward.  However, they are in need of a fifth, who opened up their spread to 1:13 compression.  Their Speed Ratings look very similar to an FM team at the Wayne Invite, setting up a possible showdown at Regionals.
