THREE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALISTS TO ATTEND NATIONAL SCHOLASTIC TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS SATURDAY

 

Olympic gold medalists Dan O’Brien, Joanna Hayes and Kevin Young will attend the 26th annual National Scholastic Indoor Championships on Saturday at the New Balance Track & Field Center at the Armory in Washington Heights, signing autographs and talking with fans. The three-day meet begins Friday.

 

O’Brien won gold in the decathlon in 1996. Hayes is the 2004 gold medalist and Olympic record holder in the 100 meter hurdles. Young took gold in 1992 and is the current world record holder in the 400 meter hurdles.

 

The athletes will be present from noon to 3 p.m.

 

Derrick Adkins, the 1996 Olympic gold medalist in the 400 meter hurdles, is Director of Track and Field at the Armory.
