Strong Starter For Surrounding Teams At Suffern Invite - Full Recap

Varsity A

Individual Race: In the first 2.5 miles of the race, there was no clear depiction of who could've taken the Varsity A title. Isaiah Claiborne and Dan O'Connor of Northport and Liam Higgins of Goshen stayed in close proximity of one another, even staying on top of one another coming out of the hill at the mile and a half mark where they began to separate themselves from the pack. In the end, it was Claiborne's kick in the last half mile that had him breaking the tape, and with the fastest time of the day as well.

Team Race: The boys of Northport put in a solid effort today to capture first place in their Varsity A race. Both Northport and Goshen had their top 3 runners finish in the top 10, so it was a close call. But when Northport rounded up their final 2 team scorers in the top 15, there was no doubt who this race belonged to.

Varsity B

Individual Race: It was the day of the kick as seen by Alex Mocarski of Fairfield Warde as he was able to pull away from Thomas Garrison of Washingtonville and Justin Allone of Sachem East in the last 150 meters of the Varsity B race to win. The three upperclassmen trailed one another around the lake and emerging from the hill, separating themselves from the pack early on.

Team Race: There was no competition for Fairfield Warde in the field as they held onto the top spots from the very start. Their points were rounded up into the top 8 places, giving them an astounding cushion of 78 points between them and the second place team of Tappan Zee, with Sachem East taking third.

Varsity C

Individual Race: In the closest race of the day, we found Andrew Meredith and Jonah Spector of Haddam-Killingworth within one second of one another at the finish line. The seniors said that their race strategy from the very beginning was to stick together and push each other, and after they realized they were able to distance themselves from the third place finisher, Anthony Di Iorio of Bergen Co. V/T, they knew the race was theirs.

Team Race: It was one yellow uniform after the other as the boys of Haddam-Killington won in the last Varsity boy's race of the day. Averaging a sub-17 time amongst their team scorers, not even Mount Academy (who was 23 points behind them) could've caught up to them in their last few steps.
