Last Year's Summary: 1st in States D, 1st in Sectionals D
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Red Dragons edged out a win at States last year for their first championship, and Michael Peppy, Peter Auer, and Frank Colburn all return with States medals to boot. But two key guys from last year's squad are gone, and Maple Grove will need to fill out a thin squad that is facing a lot of challenges from States contenders. After the success of the recruiting campaign last year, however, we're guessing that the Dragons will be able to wing it with a little help from newcomers this year.

Last Year's Summary: 3rd in States D, 1st in Sectionals D
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Indians look very strong with six returning guys from their States team and two of them being medalists. First though they'll have to fight off Beaver River in the S3-D battle, and then there will be a host of good teams at States. Frontrunner Canarelli will be shooting for an individual championship, and Philpotts and Link will be be joining him as part of a good senior trio, so now they just need some growth among the younger guys behind them.
Addison | Knights | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Section: 5 | Class: D | Colors: Maroon and gray
Addison's Ryan English finished 31st for the Knights in the States C race last year.

States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Bryan Morseman (2001, C-7th) (2002, C-5th), Brendan Morseman (2005, D-7th)
Last Year's Summary: 3rd in States C, 1st in Sectionals C
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Addison is coming back down to Class D with a 3rd place in hand from last year's States C race, and they are looking very strong.with a trio of Evan McIlwain, Ryan English, and Dylan Beckhorn on the lead. Two issues though is that there does not seem to be much depth for the squad, and they're all seniors, so this is a go-for-broke year.
Elmira-Notre Dame | Crusaders
Section: 4 | Class: D | Colors: Blue and gold
Elmira Notre Dame's Matt Karee finished 7th for the Crusaders at States in his senior year.
XC History | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
States Teams: 1980 (C-2nd), 1984 (C-4th), 2015 (D-4th), 2016 (D-4th)
States Individuals (Top 10 finishers): Matt Karee (2016, D-7th)
Last Year's Summary: 4th in States D, 1st in Sectionals D
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Crusaders have a solid and deep enough pack to win S4-D comfortably, but the big issue will be now that Matt Karee is graduated, they need at least one guy to step up into top 20 territory at States to compete with the best teams. After finishing 27th at States last year, Finnerty may be the guy to lead a pack of seniors into the top 3 at States.

Last Year's Summary: 3rd in Sectionals D
| ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This Year's Outlook | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
The Beavers are running a bit behind reigning S3-D champ Sauquoit Valley, but with States medalist Connor Demo and his freshman brother Cory leading the way, Beaver River should stay close in this tough Sectional battle..
