What if High School athletics were run like the Olympics? If each state
would have their own Olympic Qualifier, to compete against other states
like the United States does against the other countries of the world.
We decided to run the numbers (no pun intended) to see exactly what that
would look like. And no better way than to examine what an All-New
York Relay squad would look like. We took the best times of the best
runners, whether it be Indoors or Outdoors, and threw them on a relay
together. What we
found is numerous National records, and some interesting stats as well.

Girls 4x800m
Name | School | Time | |
Sammy Watson | Rush-Henrietta | 2:00.78
Katherine Lee | Shoreham-Wading River | 2:04.55s
Paige Keefer | West Babylon | 2:05.68s
Hannah Reale | Shenendehowa | 2:06.83s
Total Time: | 8:17.84 |
Breakdown: This might be the fastest year in the 800m ever, and the first time a power team has gotten under 8:20. When the State Champion is only the fourth fastest of the year, you know it was a quick year for the event.
Boys 4x800m
Name | School | Time | |
Ben Bulkeley | Fairport | 1:50.96
Isaiah Claiborne | Northport | 1:51.68s
Richard Samuels | Wallkill | 1:52.14
Noah Tindale | Guilderland | 1:52.90
Total Time: | 7:27.68 |
Breakdown: While the boys mark may not be as impressive, it is the best we've seen since 2012. The depth is starting to come back to New York, with 3 of the Top 4 all coming back next year.
Girls 4x400m
Name | School | Time | |
Paris Peoples | Cardozo | 53.68
Sammy Watson | Rush-Henrietta | 54.05
Birttany Korsah | West Babylon | 54.30s
Vanessa Watson | Spencerport | 54.58
Total Time: | 3:36.61 |
Breakdown: The State Champ leads a very strong field, with two different National Champs. However, this mark is only three seconds faster than the actual State Record, set by Boys and Girls in 2008.
Boys 4x400m
Name | School | Time | |
Ramone Newland | South Shore | 46.22si
Robert Walker | Newburgh | 46.23s
Jovahn Williamson | HHH East | 46.53
Kyree Johnson | Huntington | 46.56
Total Time: | 3:05.54 |
Breakdown: The boys didn't stand a chance against prior years, as the 400m class of the past five years had been nothing short of incredible. However, they hold their own, and would be the National Leader by five seconds
Boys 4x200m
Name | School | Time | |
Ramone Newland | South Shore | 21.10si
Noah Williams | McQuaid | 21.31
Nathaniel Davis | Sweet Home | 21.34
Carlon Hosten | Taft | 21.43
Total Time: | 1:22.18 |
Breakdown: A very close quartet representing here, only a second off the actual National Leader this year.
Girls 4x200m
Name | School | Time | |
Lanae-Tava Thomas | Rush-Henrietta | 23.42
Halle Hazzard | St. Anthony's | 23.99i
Kiana Stallworth | New Rochelle | 24.48
Jhada Francis | Ossining | 24.50
Total Time: | 1:36.49 |
Breakdown: While the top end definitely helps the overall time, it is one of the least balanced relays of years past. With that, the marks fall short of capturing the National Leader, run by FL's Miami Northwestern in 1:34.56
Boys 4x100m
Name | School | Time | |
Carlon Hosten | Taft | 10.42
Tariq Taul | Niagara Falls | 10.51
Tom Wendt | Lockport | 10.56
Chris Borzor | Uniondale | 10.61
Total Time: | 42.10 |
Breakdown: Proof alone that relay times can bring flying splits, this compilation wouldn't even break into the States Top 20 All-Time.
Girls 4x100m
Name | School | Time | |
Lanae-Tava Thomas | Rush-Henrietta | 11.66
Halle Hazzard | St. Anthony's | 11.67
Toshel Goffe | Paul Robeson | 11.93
Dominque Jackson | Chris Columbus | 12.06
Total Time: | 47.32 |
Breakdown: Newburgh ran faster than this compilation to win the State Title, without a girl in the Top 10 in the State for the event.
