Armory, NYC - Running at the Varsity Classic last night, a hand-timed meet brought by New Jersey, the former National Record Holders in the Distance Medley Relay reclaimed their spot in the US Top 3.
North Rockland, which won the event at the 2016 New Balance Indoor Nationals, set the State and National Record at 11:34.85.
Coming back with two of the same legs in 2017, they ran away from the field to clock 11:51.00 on Monday Night. This now puts three New York Teams in the Top 5 for the event, as well as 2 of 3 under the 12min barrier. Lake Braddock, VA broke the National Record at the VA Showcase earlier this year, but their mile leg, Kate Murphy, sustained injury in doing so. She has not raced since, but is scheduled for the Millrose Games. If not at full strength come NBIN, it could be a closer race once again for the title.
