Section 1 Boys Open Rankings – Week 5 -10/14/08
1. North Rockland (AA) (#1 previous week): With a good showing at the Manhattan Invite on Saturday this squad stays put for another week. The top five averaged 13:31 on the hills of Van Cortlandt park with a 1 min. compression. They had a 171 avg. speed rating for the week. Hughes was the leader at 13:03.
2. Suffern (AA) (#2 previous week): Ran a 13:40 average at Manhattan Invite on Saturday with Pereira, McKenna, Mitchell, Galasso & Galasso within 20 sec. of each other. This would be a scary pack to be chasing after any team. They have a 168 average speed rating, moving even closer to the guys at the top.
3. Scarsdale (AA) (#4 previous week): This squad ran a 13:44 avg. at Manhattan Invite and jumped their average speed rating from 155 the previous week to 167 this week, making the move the senior laden team had been planning to make at this point in the season. Lee led the team at 13:16.
4. Arlington (AA) (#3 previous week): Another week with no results from this team that started the year very strong, and plans to finish as strong. Look to see a statement made this weekend from this team to let everybody know where they are at in their training. A great run and these guys will leapfrog some teams that have taken jumps ahead of them.
5. Mahopac (AA) (#5 previous week): Ran in the Manhattan Invite to a 13:58 average and a 2:01 compression. They earned an average speed rating of 162, an improvement on the 157 from last week. All signs look good to continued improvements and if their #5 makes a jump they will look to do some damage at the sectional meet.
6. Brewster (A) (#7 previous week) Ran a 14:11 average at Manhattan Invite with a 23 sec. compression and a 158 avg. speed rating to finish 6th best for section 1 in the merge, behind Fox Lane at 5th in the merge, however they beat Fox Lane in the League Championships today (as well as Horace Greeley) at Somers.
7. Horace Greeley (A) (NR) Ran a 14:16 avg. at Manhattan for a 156 avg. speed rating with a nice 1:01 compression. Have a stronger 5th man than the teams close behind them.

9. Pearl River (B) (HM previous week) That was quite a race by Hickey, if the fence hadn’t have been there he might have gotten around that guy the 5 or 6 times he tried but got moved into the fence, a hard fought 12:35 effort. The team averaged 14:07 and a 159 avg. speed rating.
10. White Plains (AA) (NR)- With a 14:15 team avg. at Manhattan and a 157 avg. speed rating, these guys showed they have some talent. Dapice ran 13:32 to lead a good solid effort by the team.
Bubble Teams:
1. Carmel(AA)- 14:19 avg. at Manhattan, they just missed the list, make them #10.5 for the week, it was that close. With 2 guys under 14:00 and the next 3 running well, it’s hard to overlook these guys.155 avg. speed rating for the week and less than 1 min compression.
2. New Rochelle (AA) Ran to a 14:22 avg. at Manhattan with a 48 sec. compression. Quamily and Barajas at 13:55 and 14:02 to lead them up front, while 3-5 are only 10 sec. spread. 154 avg. speed rating.
