Katelyn Tuohy Takes Down Caitlin Lane's Freshman State Record In National Leading Mile

Armory, NYC - It seems that Rockland County Runners are slowly taking over the Mile State Records from a storied Saratoga program.  Last year, it was Mary Hennelly (Suffern) taking Nicole Blood's 8th Grade Record.  This year, it's all Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland).

Tuohy led from the gun in a loaded mile field at the Stanner Games yesterday.  She pulled away early, and pushed the pace.  Tuohy would cross the line in 4:48.29.  The mark is a US #1 by over 3 seconds, ahead of Kelsey Chmiel (Saratoga).  The time is 6-seconds better than her previous outdoor personal best, set at the Loucks Games last year.  The mark converts to 4:27.01 for the 1500m, the more traditional New York Distance.  That would make Tuohy US #2, behind Jess Lawson (Corning), which sets up a potential thrilling State Meet later this season.
