Erica Ellis Continues Pole Vault Domination With Another State Record

Rochester, NY - It's sort of been a routine in putting out these articles over the past few years.  That's because Erica Ellis (Gates-Chili) has taken home the class State Record in the Pole Vault for every year she's competed.  Now a sophomore, she has broken the Sophomore State Record held by Alanna Carroll of Averill Park, set at last years New Balance Indoor Nationals.  Carroll's mark of 12-4.5 was surpassed by Ellis, when she cleared 12-7 at the Trent Jackson/Cedric Walker Invite last night.

No girl has gone over 13-0 sine 2011, when Megan Clark did so for James I O'Neil.  Only four girls have gone over that mark in NYS History, and Ellis has two more years, plus the remainder of this year, to challenge that.  She'll also be likely to face off with the previous Sophomore State Record Holder, Carroll, at this year's State Meet.  Should be a battle!
