2016 New York Federation Championships Preview

Girls Individual Race

Breakdown: Based on last week, Kelsey Chmiel looks primed to grab her first Federation Title.  The question is, how fast will it be?  As great as she looked at States, it took a Speed Rating ten points higher by Aisling Cuffe to set the Bowdoin Park Course Record in 2010.  However, when Mary Cain set the sophomore course record at 17:40.0, she was running just about the same marks as Chmiel.  Could we see Cain's mark go down?  Katelyn Tuohy will be in the conversation as well, runner up at States the week before.  She'll have to break 18mins for the first time if she want's to approach the Freshman Course Record at Bowdoin.

The race behind those two should be completely up for grabs.  Sammy Watson had a breakout XC performance at States, and could ride the improvement here to a Top 3 finish.  Those who ran in the lower classifications at States will get their chance at the big names, and we could see some improvement there, as well.  This one could be for the record books, so stay tuned.
