ArmoryTrack.com on-site XC Coverage

Christopher Hunt and myself did a bit of traveling last year to bring you some of the best coverage of track-and-field and XC we could provide.  This year will be even better.  Last Friday, we opened up with Chris at The Red Raider Run in Rockland County.  The next day, we were at The Big Red Invitational in Somers (I'm the meet director and coach of Somers so we had to be there).

As we move forward, this year we will try to spread the coverage around the best we can, but traveling is becoming more and more difficult.  Next weekend, Chris will be at The Suffern Invitational at Bear Mt. while I will head over to the JFK Invitational in Somers.  Both meets will have a good group of "out of the area teams," allowing us to cover more of the state.

The following weekend, I will head to the New Balance Ocean State Invitational in Rhode Island while Chris Heads out to St. Anthony's State Park, again the site of the NYSPHSAA, for the Suffolk Coaches Invitational.

We're still planning out the weekend of October 4th, but someone will be at the St. Anthony's Invitational as we usually cover that meet.  October 11th brings us The Manhattan College Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.  We will team up with the rest of The Milesplit Crew to once again bring you the best coverage of the "BIggest and the Best".  Is anyone else psyched for the complete, computerized scoring?  Check out last year's coverage here.

For the first time, we will be at The Section 2 Championships for the best regional XC meet in the US. We will also be there for the NYSPHSAA and NYS Federation Championships, NXN Regionals, and Footlocker Regionals. In addition, we plan to provide live coverage from Oregon for the NXN Championships, a meet the NY girls have never lost.

We'll make a few more meets as well, maybe a state qualifier here and there.  We know there are some big upstate meet we'll miss again.  McQuaid is on our calender for 2009 and the EJ Herrmann meet looks good as usual.

So what can you do to help cover this huge state of NY?  Send us pictures and comments on meets so we get a sense of what's going on out there. Send us team group pictures of your championship team. Upload your own video to our site of your meets.  We want it all and we have the ability to post it all.

Try to utilize the rankings more and try to encourage meet directors who do not use Hytek or racetab to get those programs. By doing so, every time from every kid on every team can be entered into the database quickly and accurately.

For now, enjoy these three interviews with Arlington coach Steve Arnett and his top runners from last Saturday, Rachel Sorna and Jared Leslie.  A remember to send all pictures to tim@armorytrack.com
