Chenango Valley Provides Great Championship Battleground - State Meet Recap

Boys Class A Teams

State of the Action: As expected, the team race was just as unpredictable as the individual.  Corning came away with their first state title, boys or girls, as a team.  They continue to be undefeated this year as a team, and head towards Regionals as such.  The mayhem behind them, was where things got interesting.  If anyone outside of Warwick was predicting them to take second in the State, feel free to gloat now.  A big performance from the Purple Wave catipulted them to the top, beating Liverpool on the 6th man tie-breaker.  Liverpool ran equally as well as they did at Sectionals, proving they are solid candidate for coming races.  Saratoga stayed close, only six points off second place.  But this race belonged to Corning.

There is a silver lining here for Liverpool, however.  While they didn't win the race, they do break Corning's 5-man average course record.  As we've mentioned in the past, their 1-2-3 may be one of the best in the country, and that helped them hit the record.
