MileSplit HQ - We're finally into single digit days until the 2016 New York State Championships, and tensions are mounting. For some, sectionals went off without a hitch. For 19% of the races out there, upsets occurred, and opportunities arose. As we head into the State Meet, we try to wrap our head around everything that happened, and what it might mean for States this Saturday.
What is the Sectional Merge?
The merge takes the Speed Ratings of each winning team, and scores it against all the others. It is a very bare-bones comparison, making no adjustments for those teams that took it easier than others, those who ran more conservatively, or those with one-off performances. It simply is a numbers to numbers comparison. Our full preview comes out later this week, but until then, it's time to get ready for States!
