One Last Run On The Regional Course Before Championship Season - Section 1 Coaches Recap

Girls Race 1

Only two girls managed to break in under 19mins at Bowdoin on Saturday, and Caroline Timm (Lourdes) did so in the final few meters.  After trailing Julia Zachgo (Shenendehowa) for much of the race, her knowledge of the course led to a surge in the final 400m.  So much so, she gained about 12 secs on the competition, for the win.

Girls Race 2

The only athlete under 20mins in her race, Mary Borkoski (Pearl River) was clear of the field by a significant margin.  Fellow sophomore Florence Cuomo (Brewster) was next across the line, just ahead of Kaitlyn Ryan (Bronxville).

Girls Race 3

No doubt that Katelyn Tuohy (North Rockland) is continuing her ride from the Manhattan win.  Her mark was the fastest of the day by nearly 30secs, also a full minute ahead of second place in her race.  Teammate Haleigh Morales took home second place, with Monroe-Woodbury taking the next two positions.

Team Breakdowns - Merge

Updated - Here

An interesting situation played out in the scoring.  With Alex Harris not running for NY #3 North Rockland, Monroe-Woodbury won their Varsity 3 race by 7-points.  Throw everything into the merge, and Shenendehowa (NY #4) takes the overall win by quite a margin.  Shen burst back into relevance after a strong showing at Paul Short, and has been knocking on that NY #3 slot with a super compression to North Rockland.

Just for fun, we added in Alex Harris to her speed rating point total from Manhattan, just to see if we could settle who was the true NY #3 squad, and the results are very close.  In a field like NXN-NY or Feds, the swing looks to go either way.

Actual

  1. Shenendehowa                66

  4. Pearl River                     179
