Course Record Holders Come Back For More - McQuaid Meet Preview

Tony Canali Memorial Girls Seeded Varsity AA

Individuals: It will be Hannah Butler (Jamesville-Dewitt) leading the field here, after her tenth place finish in the merge at Pre-States.  Maisy Webster (East Aurora) looks to be the next best domestic threat, as she placed highly in the same merge at Pre-States.  The Orie Sisters (Gabrielle and Danielle) of Nardin Academy surpassed Webster at her home Invite, and may very well do so again here.  Sam Peterman (Sweet Home) is getting her first taste of big competition this season, and is the top returning American from this race in 2015.  There are several Canadian teams in the mix here, which provide some unknowns, especially as Canada went 1-2 the year before. Benet Avery (Birchmount Park, ONT) placed highly in a sophomore race last year, and will be most likely stepping up to varsity here.

Teams: East Aurora girls finished fifth overall in the merge at Pre-State, making them the favorite here.  They'll get their first taste of Class B competition here, with Burnt Hills making the trip from Section 2, the two-time defending champions in this race.  Pittsford Sutherland, Nardin Academy, and Jamesville-Dewitt are all ranked 8-9-10 in the State Rankings for Class B, and will provide some equal head-to-head action.  Not to be forgotten is Magnificat (OH), who averaged a speed rating of 100 last year, superior to all teams but EA, and will bring back everyone, most likely stronger than the year before.
