Boys Race 9 Individual | |||||
Notes: Much like the race before it, Race 9 saw a team and individual battle that was closely intertwined. Liverpool set forth with a pair led by Ty Brownlow, as the Fusco brothers of Somers made it their mission to split the two. As Brownlow began to pull away, it was Matt Fusco who held on in tow, all the way to the final straight. That's when Stevie Schulz saw the danger, and kicked into another gear. Schulz then became even with Fusco, eventually getting the lean in at the line. It would be the second straight time Brownlow and Schulz have gone 1-2 in a major invitational this fall. | |||||

| Notes: As close as the individual race was, the team competition was equally so. Somers had the advantage at the two mile mark, a strong compression compensating for Liverpool's front-running. It was then when Liverpool's third man knew he had to move up, and spent the final mile gaining all the ground he could. The effort made all the difference, and Liverpool prevailed by two points. | |||||
