Where Are They Now? 2016 Graduates: Kevin Gideon

In high school, Kevin Gideon competed for Burnt Hills Ballston Lake in cross country and track. In cross country, Kevin competed at 3 section championships and 3 states championships. His senior year, Kevin competed at Nike Regionals New York and and lead his team to an overall win in the open race. At last year's state meet, Kevin Gideon helped his team to a 3rd place finish, placing 38th individually. On the track, Kevin's prs include a 9:54 2 mile, 4:27 mile and a 10:05 3K steeple.

Notable high school wins for Gideon include a double victory his senior year at Section 2's Indoor Championship in the 1000 and 1600. Then, later that year during outdoor track, Kevin won the mile at the Queensbury Invitational in a top notch field of athletes. To finish out his cross country career as a spartan, Kevin Gideon won both the Section 2 Class B championship race and the New York Regional open race.

Now out of high school, Kevin Gideon competes in NCAA Division II for Cedarville University out in Ohio. His opening race was at Indian Riffle Park in Kettling, Ohio where he ran a 5K in 16:47 placing 48th. This past weekend he ran at his home Invitational, the Cedarville Friendship Cross Country Invitational where he debuted his 8K racing career with a time of 28:11, placing 44th overall and 12th on his new team. As Gideon gets used to the longer distance, we will probably see him drop his 8K time, however, a 28:11 first 8K is a solid opener that is nothing to be understated. The next race that the Cedarville team takes on is the All-Ohio Championship in Cedarville on Friday September 30th.
