Wild Finish For NY State Meet Steeple: Eion Nohilly vs. Noah Affolder!

One of the fiercest races at the New York State Championships was in the Boys 3K Steeplechase. The top competitors were Noah Affolder and Eion Nohilly; Affolder, the No. 3 ranked 3200m runner in the nation and Loucks Games 3200m champion, and Nohilly, the 2015 New Balance Nationals Outdoor steeplechase runner-up.  Both runners had tired legs: Affolder placed runner-up in the 3200m in 8:55.20 the night before, while Nohilly won the 800m title on Friday in 1:52.77.

Watch the race video above to see one of the most exciting finishes of the year, as Nohilly and Affolder ran 9:06.36 and 9:06.52.

Sam Affolder would place third in 9:16.43, a new national freshman class record.
