It seems as Section 2 is becoming the birthplace of future vaulters. On Monday evening, Shane Racey (Left) of Ravena tied the State Record in the Pole Vault as his home invitational.
The clearance matched the current record set last year by a Section 2 athlete. At the section 2 State Qualifier, Donald Jones of Albany Academy hit 12-9, earning himself the win, and a trip to the Spring State Meet. As a freshman, Jones has improved his personal best to 14-0, approaching the State Record held by Ryan Dall, now an asst. coach for Team USA at the North American, Central American and Caribbean Under-23 Championships this summer.
