Girls Mile
Stacked. That's the only way to describe this race. Sammy Watson may be your headliner, as she is virtually undefeated throughout indoors, minus a dip at the line in the mile in Boston. Her 4:47 will look to be lowered, after she ran 53.83 last weekend (yes, in her case, the two coincide). But the challengers to the title are not to underestimated. Indoor State Champ Diana Vizza was NY #2 indoors for 1500m, while Megan Reilly was NY #8. Carolina Beroutsos was NY #1 for 1600m at 5:00.05, while Anna Flynn was the 2016 top returner before succumbing to injury this winter. Flynn has returned to relative health since then.
In terms of outside challengers, another trio from La Salle Academy, that includes Eliza Rego, Emily Kane, and Karina Tavares, are fresh off the 4xMile National Title. Lydia Olivere ran just as strong indoors, and will push the pace as well. This race is loaded with talent, and we can't wait to see how it plays out.
