State of the Action: Billed as one of the best matchups of the year, the race didn't disappoint. Kam McIntosh, who is just returning to training after losing a majority of the season to injury, knew the only way to stack up to Sammy Watson was to try to run out her ferocious kick, and took the race out hard. By 200m, McIntosh has a full second gap on the field, pushing the pace every step of the way. By 400m, Watson had sensed the danger, and started to move up from fourth place. But McIntosh still had a second or so gap, and kept moving. Watson threw it into another gear with 100m to go, swinging to the right of McIntosh, and dropped a 31second last 200m to secure the meet record. McIntosh held on for second, with a close closing Tori Johnson on her heels.
