State of the Action: There may be only two favorites heading into the race, but that doesn't limit the storylines.

Tia Jones is just shy of the 6.99 Frosh State Record set back in 1992.  Given the right race, she could dip under 7secs, and grab that recognition.

But this race is clearly a battle at the front.  Halie Hazard is the third fastest individual of the past decade, consistently clocking well under 7secs.  But she'll be lining up against the reigning State Champion, Lanae-Tava Thomas, who has done nothing but dazzle in her sophomore season.  Thomas now holds the Soph State  and National Record in the 55m, and is also NY #2 All-Time in the event.   The only soft spot was that that mark came in the opening trials at the State Qualifier.  Her marks in the finals were just a bit slower, which could produce an opening for Hazzard to sneak in, especially with Thomas doubling back.  This is one final you don't want to miss.
