Colin Blair Puts Pressure On 60-Foot Barrier In Opening Weekend

The Top Returning Shot Putter at last years State Meet is already pushing through in 2016.  Lancaster's Colin Blair, who placed 4th last year at Indoor States, set a personal best in winning the event at Section 6's opening weekend.  The mark of 59-7.5 is a lifetime best for the senior, bettering even his Outdoor PR of 58-1.5.

Blair burst into the State Spotlight last year, mostly for his battles with in-section rival Sam Wray.  The two went 1-2 in the Discus at the Spring State Meet, and are expected to battle in the Shot Put circle indoors.  60-feet is generally considered the barrier between good and great in HS athletics, and has been a good indicator of the possibility of making the podium.

Of the past ten years, only four of them have been without a 60-foot throw in New York.  Those include 2006, 2008, 2009, and 2012.  New York has had a 60-foot thrower for the past three years.  Will Blair join those select few?  Stay tuned to MileSplit to find out.
