Summary:  Syracuse won its second ever national championship and first since 1951 with a trio of NY guys helping to send the Orange to the first title by a school from east of Wisconsin since 1972. Martin Hehir was the third guy from Syracuse in at 9th, Philo Germano took the 4th spot on the team at 39th, and Dan Lennon was in at 65th for a team that was 5th last year. Penn's Thomas Awad joined Hehir in the top 20 list with a 14th place to lead the Quakers to 24th with the help of teammate Brendan Smith. Duke's Shaun Thompson was the fifth NY guy across the line at 95th, Oklahoma State's Chad Noelle was 116th, and Mississippi teammates Ryan Manahan and MJ Erb finished up at 182nd and 187th. For the second year in a row, the race was won by a NJ guy Edward Cheserek. Two NY schools finished in the top 5 for the first time in a long while as Iona came in 5th.
