New York College Runners Go Big at 2015 Nationals

NCAA D3 - Nationals Wrap-up

Women

Summary: Although a long way behind Hannah Cole's 1st-place Williams squad, SUNY Geneseo packed five runners into the top 75 of the D3 national championship to edge out three other teams all within 14 points of each other for 2nd place. Jackie Huben led the Blue Knights with a 29th place and Sara Rosenzweig was 37th for a team that was 5th last year. But if there was a spine-tingling battle for NY on the day it was between Honeoye Falls-Lima grads Cole of Williams and Ruth Steinke of 17th-place Carleton for the highest finish, with Cole getting the nod with a 4th to Steinke's 5th. Frontrunner Cole was joined on the national championship podium for the Ephs by Victoria Kingham who placed 11th for a team that finished 8th last year. Also in the race's top 25 from NY were 9th place RPI's Jaime Lord in 15th and 6th-place SUNY Oneonta's Alyssa Drapeau in 18th and Mary-Kate Bida in 23rd. Overall 47 of the 280 runners in the D3 women's championship were from NY, as three other NY teams included Rochester in 14th place, RIT in 23rd, and St. Lawrence in 25th.
