Vince McNally and Nick Crits finished 7th and 8th respectively in the Millrose Games HS mile.  McNally ran a time of 4:19.69 and Crits finished in 4:23.59.  The winner was Kyle Merber(NY), who ran a time of 4:13.86.  Crits led the race for 5 laps before Dorrell and White took control at the end of the 5th lap. Starting on the inside rail, Crits was concerned about getting pushed inside and tripping – as he had seen in previous races. "When the gun went off, I got out fast so I wouldn't get boxed in by the rail." He found himself in front, and felt comfortable, so he stayed in the lead. "...but after several laps I realized it was too late to pull back.  My goal was to run like I had done at the New Balance Games, but it just wasn't the best strategy for Millrose." By the 7th lap, Merber had moved up to White.  Smith moved into 2nd place behind Dorrell on the 8th lap with White and Merber on his shoulder.  By the start of the 10th lap Smith and Merber were side by side with White and Dorrell right behind. Merber broke away on the backstretch of lap 10 with Smith hanging on to 2nd place.  At the start of the 11th and final lap Andrews closed on Smith and ended up 2nd to Merber with White in 3rd and Smith on his heels in 4th.  McNally trailed for most of the race and ended up passing Crits with one lap to go. Crits says he'll take what he has learned, and is looking forward to States.

Both of these guys are in solid shape and should be ready to run great races. Crits has run 4:17.07 already this year, finishing 4th in the mile at the New Balance Games. McNally has opted for a low profile start to the season, running a solo 3k of 8:53, so it will be exciting to see how he steps up in this high-profile mile race.
