The World Runs Here

By Tim Fulton

It just goes to show, on any given night, there are very interesting things going on here at The Armory.

Wednesday night saw the first of three "Sprint Night at the Races" take place and there were some great times and great races. The adults took over The Armory for a night meet though some high school and college athletes took the oportunity to compete.

The boys from up in Newburgh, N.Y. (Newburgh Elite Club) came down and ran a US#1 3:22.45. Fred Locklary (51.4), Akinto Boon (49.2) Timothy Mountain (50.2), and Donald Cooper (51.7) teamed up to run a very fast early season time. Also of note is that NE's B Team ran 3:30.14 and their C Team ran 3:32.46.

Angilla Corlette, a NY City resident and Guyana native, tripled with a 7.66 60m, 39.51 300m, and a 24.09 200m.  She was an All American at Lyndonwood College (Missouri) and is trying to qualify for the Indoor World Champs in the 400m.

California prep Jonathon Simmons (Beverly Hills HS, CA) ran 50.76 and came back in the 800m later.
