State of the Action

What a way to start Day 2!

Two titans of the event, Freshman/Junior State Record Holder Aidan Tooker faces off against International Triathlete Jack Jibb in the Steeple, with the son (Eion Nohilly) of a former International level Steepler right on their tail. It didn't take long for the three to separate from the pack. It was obvious this was going to be an all-out race, as Jack Jibb had a British National Team Qualifying time in his head. The pace never let up in the war of attrition over the barriers, as Jibb and Tooker exchanged the lead. With two laps to go, Jibb began to create some distance from those in pursuit, and each barrier would gain another meter. With a half lap to go, he charged the final water pit, far and away from his next competitors. Coming down the stretch, it was him vs. the clock, only motivated to run faster by seeing the State Record roll by. With a final surge, and arms in the air, Jack Jibb goes NY #3 All-Time in the event, and one of only two kids to break 9mins in the last 40 years.

And yes, for those wondering, he hit his qualifying time in the process.
