Look out ladies and gentlemen, we got ourselves a Jump Off! With Ryan Herrera-Murphy the only athlete over 15-6, therefore nabbing him a repeat Federation State Title from Indoors, there was still the matter of finding the D1 State Champ. That's because Derek DiBona and Ethan Maguire had evened out on their misses to that height, equal in the eyes of the event. That means they would have a jump off to decide the winner. DiBona took his first jump, but couldn't get the height to clear the bar. Then, Maguire, who had only cleared 14-8 in his life before his State Qualifier, comes out and makes the 15-3 bar on his first try, screaming all the way down. He comes away as your new State Champion, with Josh Mastrantuono taking the D2 as well. |
