New York's Stars Shine Bright At State Championships

Girls Long Jump
Event Info: 2014 Winner: Imani McGhee (Bay Shore) 19-2.75, State Record: 21-1.25, Meet Record: 21-1.25, State Qualifier Mark: 17-2

State of the Action: McKyla Brooks took the lead with her first jump into the finals, the only person over the 19-foot barrier.  For Marie-Josee Ebwea-Bile, who said she didn't come up from the city, let alone France, to lose, used that as motivation to launch a jump to counter the mark.  That half inch improvement over Brooks proved to be the difference maker, earning Ebwea-Bile her first state title, on what happened to be her Birthday.
