Girls Individual
Girls 55m | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
State of the Action: Only one girl in the field has broken 7 seconds, and Brenessa Thompson (Medgar Evers) is on a mission to reclaim her US #1 position. Dashed away by Teahna Daniels of Florida, in 6.93, Thompson is definitely on the hunt. With a struggling start all season, there is much more left in the tank, and the Millrose Games is the place to get it right. For competition, look no further than NY #2 Lanae Tava-Thomas (Rush-Henrietta), who is make a special trip to NY just for this race, as her teammates take on the SPIRE Showcase in Ohio. PA provides the next fastest individuals, who all want a piece of that sub-7 action. |

Girls Mile | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
State of the Action: Traditionally, the Girls Millrose Mile has been a sub-4:50 affair. In a year where only one girl has achieved that so far, it could be argued the competition will be a lot closer in 2015. However, we believe several athletes are ready to pop a big performance. First up is the obvious pair. Not only do Marisa Sheva (Pennridge, PA) and Catherine Pagano (Northern Highlands, NJ) have the top seeds by a fair share, they also hit those marks in early December. With nearly two months of training under their belt, it'll be seen if they peaked perfectly, or pushed too early. Pagano's US Leader in the 800m would indicate otherwise, and Sheva is far from counted out. Olivia Sargent (Pennsbury, PA) will be in the mix, with her 4:55 second effort at the distance this year, putting her in the conversation. She'll bring along late entrant Sarah Walker (Germantown Friends, PA) who won the 1000m in kicking fashion at the Armory Collegiate. The home state crowd will be brought up by Page Duca (Friends Academy), with Section 1 rivals Anna Flynn (Ursuline) and Bella Burda (Arlington) on either side of her seed. |

Girls Pole Vault | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
State of the Action: In what many are calling the year of the vault, the professional atmosphere will be key in the pits. Nicole Carroll (Tampa, FL) is making the long trip up from the sunshine state, and enters as the top seed. Maddie Schneider (Darien, CT) is close behind, with an important battle around her. Kari Stomhaug (Vestal, NY) is the defending State Indoor Champ, while Sam Beyar (Monroe-Woodbury) is the State Leader. They'll most likely meet up at Cornell, and this could foreshadow something interesting. |
