Girls 55m | |||||
State of the Action: With the top sprinter in the State and the Nation earning her auto-bid at the Hispanic Games, the third place finisher in that race looks to be the swiftest entrant. Chanel Brisset (Cheltenham) went 7.06 against strong competition. She'll face off against NY #5 Sarah Militano (Miller Place), who has quickly made a name for herself in the sprinting ranks. Ariel Strunkey (Taft) is quick on the outside track, and could translate well to the 55m straightaway as well.

Girls Mile | |||||
State of the Action: Unlike the boys field, one seed stands clear of the pack here. Mady Clahane (Cumberland Valley, PA) was a strong competitor the year before, hitting 4:49 in the full mile. She has an almost 11-second gap from the surrounding competition, and will look to rebook her ticket to the Millrose Games. Page Duca (Friends Academy) and Rachel Suss (Metuchen, NJ) both have hit that 5min mark before last year, and will look to dip under to stay in contention. |

State of the Action: The top three seeds here, make up the top four on the state leaderboards. Kristin Insigno (Holy Trinity) leads in the Shot Put already, and will look to make it double trouble. Monae Cooper (New Rochelle) is recovered from an early season injury, and has the longest personal best of the field. And Olivia Seifert (Saint Anthony's) is the current State Leader, the only girl in the field to throw over 50ft this year. With the event now being contested at the State Level, this could be good. |

State of the Action: With Cardozo not entered, Paul Robeson finds itself as the only team to have broken 4mins in the field. However, without a 55m or a 4x200m to worry about, Medgar Evers will absolutely be ready to take away that distinction. Not to be forgotten is Suffern, who went 4:02.27 at Cornell on a flat track, a feat within itself. While most top teams will be racing in separate heats, things may still get fast. |

State of the Action: Things will get very quick, very fast. Shaka Shomari (Holy Trinity) and Zack Warden (Newburgh) will be facing off, both athletes hitting 6.46 this season. However, Warden was able to do it in a major invitational (Bishop Loughlin), and may be better under pressure. We shouldn't count out Anton Porter (Mount St. Michael), who has been busy chasing national leaders in the longer sprints. His return to the infield may upset them all. |

Boys Mile | |||||
State of the Action: It'll be only four days since we saw the fastest mile field in State History, in terms of depth. Now, the nations fastest returner, Luke Gavigan (Tappan Zee), will try to prove why his name is still relevant. The Millrose Trials 2014 proved to be his breakout meet. Will the most recent rendition do much the same? If Sam Ritz (Germantown, PA) pulls him out as fast as he did the field at Hispanic, we could see some incredible times. Ritz took out early at Hispanic, but paid the price. If he takes another shot, he is likely to be hard to catch. However, Blaise Ferro (CBA, NJ) is another name to look out for, someone who had the most prolific XC-season of them all. Another Catholic High School hitting the track is Pat Tucker (Saint Anthony's), who threw down a sub-4:20 at North Shore. The field is loaded with numerous athletes under that same barrier, and it could be a very quick field. |

Boys Weight Throw | |||||
State of the Action: With the States' top thrower not in attendance, the top seeds look to be the states top returner, against NY #2. Eric Sheng (Syosset) has a 64-5.5 to his name, further than anyone in the field. But last years Javelin Champ, Jon Putnam (Massapequa) is the furthest this year, with a 62-10. They look to battle at the top, with Cameron Thompson (Lakeland/Panas) the only other athlete over 60ft. |

CHSAA Boys 4x200m | |||||
State of the Action: With the boys only entered in the 4x200m, several teams look to break the 1:30 barrier. Holy Trinity looks to be the top seed. At both Marine Corps (athlete running off the track), and Hispanic Games (athlete running into Rai Benjamin), Trinity has been unable to run their full potential. With some clean exchanges, they may be able to run away from the field. But Xavier is very close, seeded less than two tenths of a second behind. Christ the King rounds out the top seeds.

Boys 4x400m | |||||
State of the Action: Their haven't been many fast times run in the mid-distance relay this year. Expect that to change, as the focus is shifted from the 4x200m, to the longer distance. Boys and Girls were set up for a fast time at the Hispanic Games, before a dropped baton took them out of it. Their Richard Rose battled Mount Vernon's Rai Benjamin in the individual 400m, and both athletes will be fresh in an effort to lead their teams to victory. Clara Barton has more balance than both, the current state leader with two legs of sub-50 capability. Tilden was a top squad last year, and could return to form as well. To be fair, any of the PSAL teams could be in contention, as Medgar Evers and Paul Robeson are both storied in the event. |

State of the Action: Unfortunately, the race is over. For the first time in years, the first relay under 8mins in the new year did not hail from NY. But the event has just begun, as the reigning National Champs Chaminade will be loading a relay for the storied event. They'll face a Xavier and Saint Anthony's squad who are just as deep. Don't sleep on Fordham Prep either, as legs Lundy just ran sub-4:20 at the Hispanic Games. This could see many teams under that 8min barrier, and will be a highlight of the meet. |
