Invite 400m |
State of the Action: Matching their male counterparts, the girls invite 400m is a loaded event. It may come down to simply, who is in the best shape right now. D'Jai Baker (Cardozo) leades the field, as she was NY #2 last spring with her 54.21. But she isn't the only girl in the field under that 55sec mark, as Amanda Crawford (Pual Robeson) has also hit a 54.94. Crawford would look to be in better shape at this current juncture, holding the US #1 in the 600m already this year. Bumping up to the longer distance will also be Arianne Strunkey (Taft), who has gone a not too shabby 55.27, even faster in the relays. Jazmine Fray (Kellenberg) may be better known at twice the distance, but her 400m kick is to be watched for. Her PR of 57.34 could very well go down. Looking to round out the top flight will be the biggest out-of-state threat in Brooklyn Broadwater (Springside School, PA), who went 55.94 back in 2013. She captured the win over 300m at the Marine Corps Invite, and looks to strike while the iron is hot. |

Mile |
State of the Action: It seems as if the sudden change in New Jersey's schedule, one that prohibited anyone from competing in both Millrose and their State Championships, has caused a grand allure to the storied mile. Lindsay Kane (Washington Township, NJ), enters the race with a solid 4:53 mile PR. Much like at the Loughlin Games, the top talent in New Jersey will face off against Bella Burda (Arlington). Burda looks to be in good shape to break 5mins once again, and will hope to be more race ready than the competition. On the flip side, Julia Flower (Schalmont) comes in with the fastest 1500m time of the bunch, a solid 4:32.09 run last spring. This winter, she finds herself in the top 5 in New York State already for the same event, and could come away with the suprise win. Pennsylvania will be bringing in some heat, as Gabrielle Wilkinson (Friend's Central, PA) will be heading in with a strong 4:32.59 PR over 1500m. Jamie Grossman (Harborfields) has also hit 4:38 in the 1500m, and will be looking to lower her 5:08 mile PR.

2-Mile |
State of the Action: Safe with her trip to the Millrose Games already, booking her ticket by smashing a killer 4:50.73 mile to win the Loughlin Games, Foot Locker Finalist Marissa Sheva (Pennridge, PA) is bumping up the distance. The XC/Soccer hybrid athlete finds herself in the unique position where her 3200m PR of 10:25.85 is actually two seconds faster than her 3000m personal best. We expect that to change quite soon. But Sheva won't be alone in the race, as 2013 NXN Finalist Stephanie Gerland (Garden City) is a strong competitor in the event, holding a 10:06.23 personal best herself. Gerland is a consistently strong athlete, and will look to push the pace from the gun. Although last on the list of entries, Beatrice Boylan (Cornwall) is a significant threat to the crown. She too has a PR of 10:06.10, and looked in even better shape throughout the majority of her 2014 XC career. Could she come out and take home the title? The top entries are rounded out by the 8th place finisher at the PA Cross Country State Meet, Hannah Molloy (Pennsbury). Her current fitness looks strong than her personal best, and could be another threat in the race.
