Bishop Loughlin Games Meet Preview Blowout - How Many US #1

Seeded 600m

Statement: Emma Gallagher (Cardozo) will lead a very strong field of competitors. She is the three time defending NYS Champ, but there are a slew of girls looking to change that this year. Almost all ladies in the seeded heat will have broken under 56 seconds in the 400m, but most impressive is the freshmen from Pennsylvania, Sydni Townsend (St. John Neumann), who hit 54.49 as an 8th grader. Amanda Crawford (Paul Robeson) is another strong contender, currently US #4.

Seeded 1000m

Statement: Every girl in the 10-person seeded section has hit 3-minutes flat or better. The outlier here is Megan Reilly (Warwick), who will be contesting the event for the first time. Undefeated in XC at the State level, she had to sit out her junior season due to illness. Well on the road to recovery, she could be a force in the race. Outside her, it looks to be Jazmine Fray (Kellenberg) and Jessica Drop (Coginchaug, CT) to be your leaders. Both have hit 2:54 in the 1000m, and could be coming out of the gates fast. Chelsea Ogindo (Peekskill) is the only other athlete under 3mins, while Kirkpatrick, Stremme, Grossman, and Turner are all on that 3-minute even mark.

Statement: This race could be flying. Bella Burda (Arlington) is well back being into form, the same kind of shape that garnered her 4:54 PR in the event. However, Marissa Sheva (Pennridge, PA) was a Millrose Qualifier last year, and her PR is three seconds faster. The two will battle it out in an attempt to solidify their spot back at Millrose.
