Gianni Lawrence of Upper Darby ran 23.37 to win the 200 meter dash and top the state list in the event. His teammates were victorious in the 4x55 meter shuttle hurdle relay, running 31.94 to cruise by nearly 3 seconds. Freshman Kamil Jihad of Chester won the 800 meter run with a time of 2:04.31.

Unionville's cross country team ran their final cross country race of the season at the NXN Finals on December 6th in Oregon. On Wednesday night, the squad hit the indoor oval to make the most of their remaining cross country fitness to run some fast times, and they took full advantage, putting the bar very high for their competitors to chase down.

Unionville started the night with a victory in the 4x800 meter relay, running 9:27.52 which is the top time in the state and in the country! Later, Kacie Breeding held off freshman star Gabrielle Wilkinson of Friends Central to win the 800 meter run in 2:20.9. For the Unionville night cap, Olivia Young put on a solo display in the 3000 meter run, taking the victory in a US#2 10:17.36!


Another cross country star made his indoor debut Wednesday night after ending his cross country season a little under 3 weeks ago. Paul Power of Spring Ford got his senior season off to a flying start, winning the 3000 meter run in 8:55.68, which is top of the country!


Other highlights include a 1-2-3 finish for Methacton in the 55 meter hurdles led by a 8.96 victory from Jenny Martin. Greer Gumbrecht of Easton cleared 10-6 to win the pole vault. Norristown's Jayana Webb ran 25.96 to win the 200 meter dash. The boys saw a 1-2 finish by Church Farm school in the 55 meter dash, led by a 6.58 win by Osiris Nicholson. Nicholson also ran 23.39 to win the 200 meter dash. Reading ran 3:36.53 to win the 4x400 meter relay.

AA outdoor high jump champion and indoor state runner up Erica Voyzey of Tyrone Area took over the top spot in the country in her 2015 season debut with a clearance of 5-8! Veronika Karpenko of State College won the long jump (16-11) and the triple jump (PA#1 36-9.50). Teammate Haley Crawford won the 60 meter dash (7.8) and the 200 meter dash (26.4).

For the boys, defending long jump champion Isaiah Brooks of Woodland Hills started his title defense and soared to the top of the national leader board with a mark of 23-6, just two inches off his 2014 indoor best! He also won the triple jump with a state leading 44-10.50! Alex Milligan of State College ran 4:28.2 to take over the state lead in the mile.

Ciara Leonard of Cheltenham now leads the state in two events, adding the 60 meter dash to the list with a winning time of 7.95. AAA outdoor 800 meter champion Maddie Villalba of Central Bucks West took over the state lead in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:17.89. 


Brooke Hutton of Coatesville fought off Lizzie Morris of Central Bucks East at the line to win the 3000 meter run 10:40.00 to 10:40.11. Morris did lead her team's 4x800 meter relay to victory with a PA#2 time of 9:50.14.


Cheltenham ran a PA#2 4:07.37 to win the 4x400 meter relay. North Penn ran 1:49.69 to win the 4x200 meter relay. Victoria Matthews of Abington and Moira O'Malley of Souderton cleared 5-4 in the high jump. Evelyn Berecz of Downingtown East won the triple jump for the 2nd week in a row with a mark of 35-7.25.

12/19Franklin & Marshall HS Season Opener Meet #1

Indoor hurdles state champion Sierra Brabhim-Lawrence of Harrisburg made her season debut, running a US#7 8.27 to win the 55 meter hurdles by nearly one full second. She also added a win in the 200 meter dash in 26.25. Lastly, she joined her teammates in taking over the state lead in the 4x200 meter relay with a winning time of 1:47.08. Tricia Varner of Forest Hills was a double winner, winning the mile (5:29.87) and 3000 meter runs (10:47.63). Outdoor 400 meter AAA champion McKenna Keegan of Avon Grove ran a PA#2 58.03 to win her first 400 meter race of the season. The trio of Tesia Kempski of Bishop McDevitt, Erin Winters of Lebanon, and Kennedy Shank of Northern all cleared 11-6 in the pole vault.

For the boys, Eric Diestelow of West Chester East won the mile (4:36.64) and 3000 meter runs (9:17.51). Isiah Brooks of Abington ran a PA#2 51.54 to win the 400 meter dash. His team were victorious in the 4x400 meter relay, running 3:38.98 for the gold.

Saahir Bethea of Cheltenham set a meet record in the long jump (PA#2 23-4) and followed that up with victory in the triple jump (PA#6 43-4.50). Kieran Moore of Upper Dublin threw 50-2 to win the shot put. 


Bethea's Cheltenham teammates started their 4x400 meter relay state title defense with a win in a state leading 3:30.67. 


We had a PA#1 and PA#2 performance in the distance medley relay, with Council Rock South (10:53.53) holding off St Joe's Prep (10:54.72) for the win. Akeim Thomas of Upper Darby ran 8.52 (8.51 prelims) to win the 60 meter hurdles.


In division 2, Sam Pope of Episcopal Academy won the triple jump (T-PA#2 44-10) to defeat PA#5 Reggie Harris of The Haverford School (43-7). Pope also ran 23.79 to win the 200 meter dash. Malvern Prep ran 11:02.61 to win the distance medley relay. Penncrest ran 3:36.60 to win the 4x400 meter relay.
