Individuals: It's hard to question how impressive the individual and team numbers Fayetteville-Manlius put up in their CNYCL League Championship were. Led by Annika Avery, the Hornets top 5 all rest in the top seeded individual list. The fastest time from their team on the course is Courtney Chapman's #9 All-Time of 16:58, which could be challenged by any number of the girls. However, Jessica Lawson of Corning is both the reigning State (Class B) and Federation champion. While many thought she was handed a rare loss by Bella Burda at Pre-State, those familiar with Lawson's training over the past three seasons know it includes a relaxed start. Expect her to have progressed for the big race. Likewise, Elmira's Abbey Wheeler is the fastest returner from this race a year ago, topping both Avery and Lawson. She knows how to run sub-17mins on the course, and will be looking for that individual win. West Genesee's Carly Benson is only a freshmen, but has been getting valuable race experience every time she toes the line in Section 3. Danielle Jordan of Shenendehowa rounds out the top spots, with her first big race of the season.
Teams: Four of the top five teams in the state will face off here, as NYS #2 Saratoga races at Queensbury. While Fayetteville-Manlius has a strong predicted score, the teams behind them are very close in the mix. Elmira has run as a tight pack in their early season efforts, and the big race mentality may impact them to spread to their potential, gaining ground on the NY #1. Shenendehowa will be looking to prove they can hang with the top squads, and could very well push from the start. Corning took home a win at the Pre-State invite, but will have to challenge Elmira to return. The only out-of-state teams to note are Strongsville of OH, and Westdale SS of CAN.

Individuals: The top spot looks to be evenly matched, as Burnt Hills' Emily Digman and Sweet Home's Aileen Doyle enter dead even in speed ratings average. Throw in Mendon's Mary Barger, and there is a strong three person race for the title. Claire Losito of Williamsville South came away with an individual win at Pre-State, and Janelle Rothacker of Burnt Hills has the track speed to make an impact on the flat course as well.
Teams: A nice Class B battle in the mid-sized schools division. Burnt Hills will be looking to regain their top spot in the state rankings, while Mendon will be looking to defend their home territory. Sweet Home rounds out the state's top 5, and can even improve upon that depending on tomorrow's outcome.

Individuals: East Aurora brings two of their top athletes to the team competition. Fiona Danieu may have had the lead in the early season, but Sophia Tasselmyer is a past-NXN individual qualifier. Be ready for her to run at full strength on Saturday. Wayland-Cohocton's Megan Curtin rounds out the top talent from Class C. Surprisingly, the upper echelon comes from the lower level, as this will truly be a Class D state preview. It will be replay of the Canton Pre-State meet, with the trio of reigning champ Hope Pietrocarlo of Maple Grove leading Margaret Champagne of Seton Catholic, and Ashleigh Crawford of Tully. However, the added pressure of the states top rated girl in Class B, C, or D will be present. Class D's Sage Hurta of Hamilton ran relaxed to win the VVS Invite, and will now have Pietrocarlo to pace off. Hurta won a state title as a middle schooler, so it will be battle of past and present at McQuaid.
Teams: Like the boys, East Aurora holds an overall state ranking, putting them as the top squad in the race. However, how things shake out behind them is totally up for grabs. It would look to be a rematch of the Pre-State meet, where Seton Catholic came out ahead.
