Only a few of the top teams hiked up to Pre-States, so most of the results are based on a scattering of races over the past two weekends. FM laid down some nice numbers previously at VVS and Saratoga is close behind after a dominating Suburban Mega-Dual showing that displayed a huge amount of depth. Elmira leads a strong trio of Section 4 teams that includes Corning and Ithaca, with the Blue Devils winning Owego, the Hawks tops in the large class Pre-States race, and the Little Red taking the Baldwinsville Large race. Shenendehowa and Guilderland are looking strong in Section 2 also, so there could be a lot of exciting State Qualifier meet action shaping up a month and a half down the road. |

A few interesting reversal's and advancements since our original preseason rankings. Aided by some significant performances at the CNYCL League Championship meet, the Fayetteville-Manlius squad look strong through their top end. Saratoga has the depth of a young squad behind them, and will have improved since their early season efforts. Elmira's pack running has been on display for the past few weekends, but Shenendehowa has snuck up on them in the Class A rankings. Rounding out the top would be Corning, who can improve by rounding out their top five at the back end. An interesting factoid. In each race, for the top two respective teams, there has been a unique top-two finishing order, demonstrating the pack running of the top end. That is four different permutations for FM, and two different permutations for Saratoga. It will prove for a very competitive state meet. |
