Mike Egotanda won the long jump: 22’4”, triple jump 44’2.25”, both were meet records, and he was awarded the meet Male MVP.

 

Horsehead’s Robert Scherb set a new high jump meet record of 6’4”, and ties a number of athletes at NY #4.

Kari Stromhaug reclaimed her familiar spot at NY #1 in the pole vault by clearing 11’06”.  Section 4 is currently vaulting very well, with 3 girls in the top 4 in the state. Including Charlise Bowen and Hayley Wigsten both at 10’6”.

Vestal boys came away with a dominant win with 104 points

Lydia Werner of Northeast Bradford takes the Pentathlon win by a massive 900 points, with a total of 2835

 

The boys’ competition had a narrower margin of victory, with Jake Hawly of Susquehana Valley winning by 100 points with 2594.

Currently ranked NY #20 in the 100m hurdles, Julia Knapp dominated the event, winning by almost 2 seconds in 15.98. Knapp’s success didn’t end there. She completed the hat trick by also winning the triple jump: 33’09”, and a very close race in the 200m over Mallory Stillman of Sidney, and BGA teammate Matilda Knapp. Then also went on to win the 400m Hurdles in 1:10.84.

Corning’s John McCarthy broke his own meet record in the 3000m steeple chase in 9:54.05 to lead Section 4 in the event, and now ranks NY #4.

 

Fellow Corning distance runner Sam Chuavin’s 9:48.92 3200m is currently the fastest time in Section 4, and places him in the top 25 in the state.

 

Lansing’s Max Jordan vaulted 13’:03” , to rank himself NY #12, and 2nd in Section 4, 3 inches behind teammate Dylan Bland.

 

Katie Butler is now NY #9 after running a 7:30.67 to win the girls’ 2000m steeple chase.

 

Abbey Wheeler won the 1500m in 4:46.03, breaking the meet record from 1989 by .31 seconds. She is now NY #6.

 

Jenny Smithers  of Elmira Notre Dame ran her way into the NY Top-20 in the 400m Hurdles in 1:07.73.


Jessica Lawson is now NY #6 in the 800m after winning in 2:18.63.

 

Jessica Thatcher broke a second 1989 meet record. This time by winning the 3000m in 10:36.37, and is now NY #10.
