Long Island Elite Meet Lives Up To It's Name

Huntington, NY - Billed as the Long Island Championships, the LI Elite Meet is held yearly at Saint Anthony's High School.  The meet served as a tune up for next weekends state meet, for those sections whose qualifiers were nearly a month ago.  The meet also brought about one state leading, and one state record performance.

 

North Shore's Diana Vizza outkicked LoCastro, to win the 3000m run.

A new state leader heading into next weeks State Championships, as Imani McGee of Bay Shore hits 19-3.75, good enough for US #8

Mike Watts of Islip ran away from the field in the 3200m run.

A new state record for the National Leader, as Ben Bonhurst of Smithtown hits a toss of 65-0 on his first throw. (Video of Record Throw Coming Soon)

Tiana Guevera of Miller Place took off in the 1000m run, hitting NY #3 in 2:56.61.

Mikey Brannigan of Northport tried his hand again in the event he'll be attempting at States, hitting 2:30.07 in the 1000m.

Jazzmine Fray took off in the final stretch, to win the 600m.

Trevor Guerrera pushed through the line, to win the 600m in 1:21.80.

National Leader Katie Michta took the Racewalk with ease, but not without pressure from Alexa Kluepfel

D'Jai Baker of North Babylon wins the final of the 300m in 40.24.

Y'Majesty Allen of Huntington, who edged out the competition to win the 300m.

Tara Belinsky of Manhasset wins the girls Shot Put, who enters as one of the top seeds next week.

Talia Guevera took the girls 1500m run, running away from the field.

Pat Tucker of Saint Anthony's put down a near-school record PR of 4:17 in the 1600m.

Aaron McFadden of Copiague takes the boys section of the 55hh.

While Aviana Goode of Bay Shore wins the girls section of the event.

Omari Buckmire of Bay Shore is one of the top seeds entering the triple jump, and he reiterated why on Saturday.

Faith Penny on the high jump in her first attempts with spikes on this year, in a high 5-5.
