Girls 300m
State of the Action:   Talk about a race.  Symone Darius came in as the top seed, battling Zola Golden all season long.  However, unlike usual, Darius did not separate from Golden on the banked turns.  Staying even, Golden managed to get the edge at the line, to win the race in a new National Leader.  Not only that, but Zola Golden is now the New York State Junior Class Record holder in the event, as well as US #9 All-Time over 300m.  Darius improves her mark as well, now US #10 All-Time.  Not to shabby for a qualifier.

Boys 1000m
State of the Action:   Everyone in the audience knew, this was the race to watch.  Even with over half of the top ten seeds scratching from the event, the race went out flying, propelling two athletes into history.  First, it was Liam Purdy of North Rockland to cross the line, in a new National Leading mark.  Not only that, it would count as NY #3 All-Time, breaking apart the top three leaders from the same Yale race in 1983.  However, right behind him was Jimmy Asselmyer, of Arlington, who held onto the second position all the way through the line.  While only getting second, Asselmyer did manage to set the New York State Junior Class Record in the process, taking down Zavon Watkins' mark by only .01, as well as US #2 this year.

State of the Action:  Many spectators were curious how the Rockland girls would split up the distance events, as both Kelly Hayes and Erin Jaskot were top contenders in both distance races.  Taking to the 1000m, former soccer player Jaskot took home the victory, despite a sore throat coming into the race, in a very fast performance.

State of the Action:  It was only Brian Cook's second attempt at the distance this year, hence the slow seed, but all the speed work seemed to play to his advantage.  Entering with only the goal to break 9:12, Cook would go on to throw down a US #2 perfromance, lapping the entire field.
