Fresh off her NXN finals experience, Olivia Young of Unionville used her already established cross country fitness to punch her ticket to the indoor state championships. The junior ran a lifetime best of 10:28.32 to win the 3000 meter run and top the early state list. The mile gave us a close finish, as Emily Burd of Friends Central held off Gretchen Mills of Unionville by just over a tenth of a second to earn the victory. Both runners ran 5:16. Brooklynn Broadwater of Springside Chestnut Hill ran 26.39 to win the 200 meter dash. In the field events, Greer Gumbrecht of Easton cleared 10-6 to win the pole vault. For the boys, Tom Diaz of Reading (6.63) edged out Stuart Tweedie of Westtown (6.64) to win the 55 meter dash. Tweedie did win the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.00.

Bryce Williams of State College soared to the top of the state list in the triple jump with a strong opening meet performance of 45-2! His teammate Kyle Adams ran a PA#1 1:59.4 to win the 800 meter run and Will Cather made it three state qualifiers for State College on the night with a PA#1 400 meter win of 50.9.
 

 
Altoona finished 1-2 in the 60 meter dash with Dreux Stamford (6.7) and Jon Stolz (6.9) leading the way. Dreux posted his 2nd PA#1 of the night in the 200, going 22.4, and captured his third state leading time with their 3:32.20 in the 4x400.
 
For the girls, State College ran a PA#1 4x200 of 1:48.40. Niara Valentine of State College ran a PA#1 25.9 to win the 200 meter dash and ran 7.7 to finish 2nd in the 60 meter dash behind teammate Haley Crawford (7.5), which is PA#2 as a 7.74h. Abby Wagner of Altoona won the triple jump with a mark of 35-10.

DVGTCA Indoor Meet #2

 
 
Springside Chestnut Hill continue to flex their muscle in the sprints, with Brooklynn Broadwater winning the 200 meter dash for the 2nd week in a row (26.06) and the 4x200 meter relay improving on their win last week with a 1:47.67 performance this week.
 
 
 
New look Paul Robeson had a good night on the track, as Markeeta Thomas won the 60 meter hurdles in a US#3 9.09 to top the state list and their 4x400 meter relay won in 4:08.55 to move up to 2nd in PA. Maddie Villalba of CB West moved up to 2nd in the 800 meter run list with a winning US#2 performance of 2:17.83. Ariana Przybylowski of Pennridge jumped 17-6.50 to win the long jump. Finally, 2 time NXN qualifiers Pennsbury won the distance medley relay in 12:42.01 to lead the state and the country!

The Philly area boys FINALLY got to kick off their 2013-14 indoor seasons where the weather would suggest that it was an outdoor track weekend.
 
The hot event on the track was the 800 meter run, where Jeff Wiseman of Council Rock South earned the top mark in the country with a time of 1:57.09, one tenth of a second better than US#2 John Lewis of Cheltenham. Christian Brissett of Cheltenham qualified for states in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.12.
 
 
Division 1 was loaded with some top marks in the field events. Randall Johnson of Central Bucks South cleared a US#2 6-7! Jordan Bryan of St Joe's Prep cleared a T-US#5 height of 6-5 to finish 2nd.
 
 
Samuel Reid of Central top the list in the state for the shot put with a mark of 55 feet even, good for US#11.
 
 
 
 
In the long jump, Saahir Bethea of Cheltenham soared to US#3 with a mark of 22-11.50. Byron Coleman of Plymouth Whitemarsh jumped a US#10 22-2.50 to finish 2nd.
 
In division 2, James Biggs-Frazier of Penn Charter ran a state leading time of 7.08 to win the 60 meter dash. Chris Cummings of West Chester East became the first state qualifier in the 3000 meter run, running a US#5 time of 8:50.81 to cruise to victory. Chris Stone of Springfield Montco cleared a PA#2 13-9 to win the pole vault. Penncrest ran a state leading 3:32.82 to win the 4x400 meter relay.
