Boys Easterns
Individual Winner - Tony Russell (West Chester Henderson) - 12:20.0
Breakdown
Looking for some deja vu from last year? The boys race was set up to be the showcase for top nationally ranked CBA of Lincroft. However, the individual title would be contested between the top harrier from Fayetteville-Manlius, and a Kenyan-born contender now competing for St. Benedict's. As the race took off into the woods, it looked to be much of the same. Edwin Rutto, of St. Benedict's, shot to the front of the pack, creating a 45second lead into the backwoods. CBA looked strong in their pack amongst the many colors of the competition. But something happend in those backwoods, that would seperate this year from last. Rutto began to fade, allowing the chase pack to catch back up. Lead by senior Mickey Burke of Rush-Henrietta, the top runners began to swallow up the harrier from St. Benedict's. Past him went Bryce Millar of FM, as well as PA's top ranked runner, Tony Russell of West Chester Henderson. Slowly, the trio began to make up the race, also including key players like Millar's teammate Andrew Berge, Pingry's Liam Mullett, and Middletown North's Tom O'Neill. Russell would move forward, passing Millar and Burke, now handling the duties of leading the race. Millar would move past as well, with Mullett coming with. Out of the woods, Russell lead the race, but a late surging Burke was trying to get back in the race. Russell would cross the line first by merely a second, Millar taking up the second position. Burke's final surges would garner him a third place finish overall.
But the story wasn't over. CBA would now start crossing the line, a tight pack behind FM's 1-2 punch. The colts took 7,9, and 11th place. Much like regionals last year, the boys of CBA had lost their teammates in the crowd midway through the race. Once the pathways opened up, they were able to recconnect, hitting the splits they knew they could. They would go on to win the team championship, closer to other teams than years past, but still a distinct victory. Behind them, another rivalry was providing results, as two of the top teams in NY were squaring off. Located just miles from eachother, FM and Liverpool were once again seeing how the matchup would play out. McQuaid was a small enough race that the pack mentality of Liverpool could play off, but in bigger races, the 1-2 punch of the Hornets boosts the margins. That said, the Warriors were no slouchs, taking third in a packed race, and further cementing the fact that Nike may be forced into looking at an At-Large spot for the NY Boys this November, as the top teams look evenly matched.

Individual Winner - Ryan Udvadia (Shoreham - Wading River) - 12:28.0
Breakdown - The top five finishers here all have a big race to their name. Cook has Queensbury, Rice has McQuaid, Huben has several Section 6 victories. The difference was Ryan Udvadia of Shoreham-Wading River's most notable race of recent memory was a Loucks performance, where he hit right around 9-flat in the 3200m. After several modest wins in local competition at the beginning of XC, Udvadia was ready to prove that track translates to cross country. The senior of SWR took off through the woods, tucking in behind Brian Cook and John Rice, who did most of the early action. At two miles, Rice had dropped off, where he was replaced by Dan Huben of Clarence in the top trio. Coming out of the woods, it would turn into an all out sprint, where Udvadia would kick down the finish chute for the win. Udvadia's teammates would make sure his efforts weren't in vain, as the team put together a top finish as well, with one of the days lowest team averages.

Individual Winner - Marco Pompilj (Collegiate) - 12:38.7
Breakdown
Both Collegiate and Tappan Zee have been having standout years, on both the individual and team basis. When they met up at Manhattan, the two frontrunners were due to battle it out. Marco Pompilj of Collegiate, felt the congestion early, getting trapped behind a pack of frontrunners heading into the woods. In that lead pack was Tappan Zee's Luke Gavigan, who would cruise with every one of Pomilj's surges. At the 2-mile mark, it would only be the pair in contention for the win. The two juniors battled down the line, where Pompilj would get the edge. His team, suffering injuries to their #2 and #3 runners, were no longer the favorites, and Sachem North found the necessary group speed to take the title, and the oversized trophy.

Individual Winner - Spencer Brown (Wilton) - 12:58.0
Breakdown
It's an individual race, but a team sport. Well, for almost everybody. Spencer Brown of Wilton, CT ran the race alone. He was the only member on his team at the course this Saturday, but it didn't seem to affect him. Brown would pull away from the field to win the "C Race" in 12:58, ten seconds above the next finisher. The team competition was well suited for the boys of St. John's Prep of MA, where their top three finished all in succession.

Individual Winner - Steve Maine (Highland Regional) - 12:38.7
Breakdown
It seemed as if the story of the day was the non-natives were grabbing all the individual titles. New Jersey would rack up the highest medal count for the individuals, led here by Steven Maine of Highland Regional. He would finish twenty seconds ahead of another Jersian from Wayne Hills. An all out kick to the end would secure him the win.

Individual Winner - Ben DeVenezia (Mountain Lakes) - 12:59.0
Breakdown
For Mountain Lakes' Ben DeVenezia, there was something new, and something familiar in the lead pack heading to the line. He was joined by teammate Chris Luciano across the line, going 1st and 3rd respectively. Between them, was Canadian Eric Wynands, who split the pair at the line. The close race up front couldn't beat the pack from Commack, who took the team race in a very close battle with CNS

Individual Winner - Dan Dracup (Ithaca) - 12:56.3
Breakdown
It was getting a little crowded for comfort around leader Dan Dracup of Ithaca around the mile mark. That lead him to accelerate through the hills, putting a gap on his competition down the backhills of Van Cortlandt Park. At two miles, he had his lead. However, the trailing athletes from Conestoga surged back, going with Dracup at the 2-mile mark. The pair of Andrew Marston and Gunnar Sjoreen from Conestoga would finish 2-3, an effort that awarded them the team title for the race, wasn't enough to catch the junior from Ithaca, who won in 12:56.3.
