Manhattan Invitational Girls Letter Race Preview

41st Annual Manhattan Invitational Girls Letter Race Preview

Saturday, October 13, 2012 --- Van Cortlandt Park --- 2:46 PM to 3:58 for 6 Races

Much of the days action at Van Cortlandt Park will be devote to the Letter races, and there are great matches on hand for all. Time was a bit limited for pulling in info from all of the different states, and I have no clue about Canada (apologies to the Thousand Islands folks). Also apologies to non-NY teams if the rating scores don't quite capture your full strength, as some of the estimations are really tough. The following summaries should give at least some idea of what's in store for the girl's 6 Letter duels.

Overview

Overview:  Class C leader Bronxville could get a big challenge from the larger Colonie squad, and Bethlehem, Lowell, Cornwall, and Jamesville-Dewitt make this a highly competitive race. There doesn't appear to be much separating the leaders in the B race, as Beatrice Boylan, Rachel Fairbanks, and Angelique Demo are all around the same level.

Overview:  Delaware's Padua squad has been having a standout year, but Monroe-Woodbury and North Hunterdon should mount a good challenge. NH's Eve Glasergreen has been a star on the Jersey circuit, and she will be the favorite for individual honors.

Lincoln-Sudbury does not appear to have run yet but it did take a win at Manhattan last year. Marissa Saenger versus Laura Leff sounds as good as it gets, and Haddonfield's Brianna Gess will also be going for the title.

Overview:  There is a rumor swirling around that last year's C race winner Pearl River is about to have its speed ratings shoot through the roof following its League meet, and VCP is another good place for a TR boost. The Pirates should cruise here, and frontrunner Kelly Hayes is the big favorite.
