Congratulations on the Westbury Boys Track team qualifying for the 4x400M Relay for Nassau County (Section VIII) at the Millrose Trials. The relay team consisted of Reggie Calixte, Getho Brevette, Brendan Alerte & Richard Taylor; Carlos Ibarra-Cruz (Alternate). Westbury ran a season's best time of 3:33.44 tonite.
The Westbury High Track & Field coaching staff gives congratulations to Marlene Ricketts. Marlene accepted a scholarship to Penn State University. She signed her scholarship forms on 5/17/10 in the Westbury High School Library. Congratulations again on a fantastic season.

WESTBURY HIGH SCHOOL IS HOSTING THE NASSAU COUNTY TRACK & FIELD SECTION VIII STATE QUALIFIER MEET ON WEDNESDAY (6/2/10) & THURSDAY (6/3/10). THIS MEET BEGINS AT 5:00PM. COME OUT AND ENJOY NASSAU COUNTY'S FINEST RUNNERS COMPETE FOR THEIR RIGHT TO COMPETE UPSTATE AGAINST NEW YORK STATE'S BEST TRACK & FIELD COMPETITORS!
Congratulations to the 2010 Westbury Boys Spring Track Team winning their 2nd Consecutive AA County Championship. This Championship meet was held at Mitchell Field on Tuesday 5/25/10 & Wednesday 5/26/10. Westbury proved that a having a balanced team afforded them the opportunity to show dominance in the Sprints, the Distance Events as well as the Field Events. There were many outstanding performances shown by Westbury during this meet. Darnelle Mickens dominated the sprints. Owen Skeete dominated the Distance Events. Jair Edwards dominated the Field Events. Hugh O'Brien won the Discus and Wayne Stewart won the 110M High Hurdles. Congratulations to the entire team for a great victory.

Westbury High Hosted the Nassau Coaches Invitational on Saturday,
4/24/10. There were many outstanding performances from both the
Westbury boys & girls track team. To begin with, junior, Owen Skeete
was named 'Outstanding Male Performer' by winning the 1600M (4:24.7) and
the 3200M (9:33.8). He set his personal record in both events. Rashan
Whethers impressed the crowd by placing 2nd in the pole vault (10' 6").
In addition, Darnelle Mickens won 1st place in the 200M (21.7) while
placing 2nd in the 100M dash in a photo-finish (10.7). Meanwhile, in
the field events, Hugh O'Brien (a junior) won 1st place in the Discus by
throwing his personal best (148'11"). Jair Edwards won the Long Jump
(21' 11.5") and placed 2nd in the Triple Jump (43' 3.25").
Westbury Boys soph relay team won 4x100M (46.7) while the frosh/soph
relay team showed great teamwork in a victory in the 4x400M (3:51.4).
The 4x400M Varsity team placed 2nd while running their season's best
Tiara Mitchell received 2nd place medals in both the 400M Intermediate
Hurdles (1:13.1) and the Triple Jump (35' 2.5"). Freshman, Jasmine
Hawkins recorded her season's best in the Pole Vault (6' 6"). Jasmine
is Westbury's first female Pole Vaulter to ever clear this height. The
best is yet to come. Ashley Boylan placed 3rd in two sophomore events:
(4' 6") in the High Jump & (14' 1.5") in the Long Jump. Lynda Nicholson
won the frosh/soph Shot Put (31' 1.75"). Shelly-Ann Baugh received a
3rd place medal in the Discus (96' 7").
The Westbury girls relay teams ended the day by winning the 4x100M frosh
(54.2), the 4x400M frosh/soph (4:42.0) and the 4x400M Varsity (4:25.6).
Highlights: Westbury 98, Manhasset 75, Valley Stream South 57, Bethpage 20: Owen Skeete won the 1,600 (4:30.5), the 800 (2:00.8) and the 3,200 (10:30.2) to lead Westbury (8-0). Wayne Stewart won the 400 IM hurdles (59.6) and the 110 high hurdles (15.7) and Darnelle Mickens won the 100 (10.8) and the 200 (22.4).
Note*** Darnelle Mickens' performance at the New York Relays held 4/16/10 currently ranks him #2 in New York State in the 200 Meters with a time of 21.61 (FAT).
Highlights: Westbury 81, Manhasset 80. Valley Stream South 56, Bethpage 33: Marlene Ricketts won the 400-meter (58.3 seconds) and the long jump (15 feet, 10 inches) and Tiara Mitchell won the 100-meter hurdles (18.3 seconds) and the triple jump (34 feet, one inch) to lead Westbury (7-1) in Conference III.
Note*** Marlene Ricketts performance of 40' 6.5" in the Triple Jump at the New York Relays currently ranks her #1 in New York State. ***
Highlights: Westbury 107, Hewlett 64, South Side 62, Plainedge 42:
Owen Skeete was a triple winner for Westbury (5-0): 3200 (10:15.1), 1600 (4:33.7), 800 (2:02.6). Darnelle Mickens won the 100-meter in 10.7 and the 200-meter in 21.5. Newcomer Lamard Herron won the 400-meter in 50.8 and came in second in the 200 in 22.6 in Conference III.
Congratulations to the 2009/2010 Westbury Boys Winter Track Team winning their 3rd Consecutive County Championship ln 2/8/10. Westbury Junior, Owen Skeete, was the evening's brightest star winning the 3200M (9:59.59), 1000M (2:42.14), and 1600M (4:37.37) events. This was perhaps the first time any runner in Nassau County has won these 3 distance races at the County Meet. In addition, Darnelle Mickens won the 55M (6.76) and 300M (36.70). Congratulations to the entire team for a great victory.
