New York, NY - While the season may have hit a lull at the beginning of the holiday break, the tail end has more than made up for it. We were on-site for two of the biggest meets of the weekend, the Marine Corps. Holiday Classic and the North Shore Invitational. Here's how they played out.

Classic is a mainstay at the Armory, and this year will kick off a three-weekend marathon of packed events. Mainly composed of relays, there are several key individual invitationals to look forward to, and a some potential relay roundups as well.

Battlefield junior Ellison Grove competed at the Marine Corps Holiday Classic on Thursday at the New York Armory in the invitational 800 meter run. The returning Northwest Region 800 meter outdoor champion with a 2:10 personal best, finished a close second in New York City over winter break behind Garden City's (NJ) Emma Gallagher (2:16.36) with a US #4 performance of 2:16.58. Grove is the current Virginia state leader at 500 meters after running a 1:16.7 hand-held time in an outdoor polar bear meet.
