Girls Data

Breakdown: Much like the boys, we see high numbers in the 55m and 300m dash.  The fastest 55m time run by a Pole Vaulter was a 7.29 by Leah Pasqualetti (Orchard Park), who also happens to be a 12-9 vaulter.  The biggest difference we see here is the prevalence of the Hurdles and Triple Jump, over the Long Jump like we see in the Boys.  In addition, the 600m has twice the number of participants as we see in the other Gender.

Do the specialize: A little bit of a different blend on the girls side of the action.  Only about half of the Top Ten contest other events during the indoor season, besides the Pole Vault, but the ones who do are in a wealth of supplementary events.  Kaeli Thompson (Warwick) contested, alongside the PV, the Long, Triple, and High Jump during the year.  The same for Patriycja Lis (Townsend Harris), who also added in the 55m Dash.  State Leader Erica Ellis (Unattached) only contested the Pole Vault, but she was in a different situation, focusing on her main event at the club level.  It would seem, for the Girls, specialization may not be as key as on the guys side.
