Very happy for coach Neil Levy. If their 5th girl has a breakout day they can put a scare into F-M. I also believe NY should get more than 3 bids. Teams like Canadaigua, Bronxville and Burnt Hills would be top 15 at nationals.

Nike pulled its usual job on New York, once again sending two CA teams that always seem to finish in the bottom half at Portland. Question is, aren't there any XC reps from NY that have the obloids to stand up for the NY teams? NY girls teams win and often take 1-2 every year and yet for the past two years Nike has already selected two hyped-up CA teams running on track courses for at-large spots before the NXN NY meet is even run, just so NY can't put four teams in the top 10. North ShoreGlen Head is such a painfully obvious pick as the #3 team in the nation that even Nike couldn't dump it as an at-large like it did to Saratoga in 2006, but a real XC team like Canandaigua should be going to Portland too.
There's an article going up tomorrow on another site that will go into the history of Nike's picks and why the Braves should be heading west, but until NY reps have the courage to fight for NY teams, this drek will keep on happening.
But congrats to FM, Saratoga, and North Shore for what all the runners have done and what will likely be a dominating performance at Portland.
As for the guys, the NXN history is less clear, but the Rush HenriettaComets made a case that was very solid. But again, the waffle company decided otherwise. Maybe next year the NY coaches can raise a few issues with the Nike committee before they take team to NXR.
Now that North Shore is in will that get 3 more girls into Nationals. If so, Ariana Bottalico would then go??? Haven't seen anything on there website.

No, Ariana made an incredible 2nd-half push in the race to finish very close at 16th in the 7th at-large spot, but even if Canandaigua had been given the team at-large spot they deserved, that would only have removed Kennedy Jensen from the at-large runners ahead of her and left her one spot short behind Greenwich's Madeline Montague. As the #3 team in the nation behind FM and Saratoga, there was no way Nike could leave North Shore out, so even on Saturday it was known NS was in. Next year for Ariana.
At large individual spots went to Mary Cain, Rachel Paul, Holly Cavalluzzo, Alicia Clark, and Kennedy Jensen.
On the guy's side, Mike Turi of JJ-EF in 9th fell one place short, as only three of the runners ahead of him were from Shaker or FM.

DobbsRover2 NY teams 1,2,9....California teams 10,11,12,13! Well maybe next year NY will get the bids it deserves. Does Paul Limmer have any say in the process?
